Like, a kid-in-a-candy-store excited. Tree huggers can kiss my ass. I cannot wait. All the camping gear I bought for Laguna Seca (including the 12-person 'Taj-ma-Tent) will be put to good use at Chuckwalla. I have no idea, really, how far away the nearest town is, but I assume we'll be camping. I need to go look at gas stoves. Perhaps another generator. So excited. The text from Alex was the highlight that I needed from otherwise a crappy week. I've always considered my home track to be Pahrump, but I'm looking forward to CVR to take over that title. And I'm looking forward to helping out, when I can, where I can. Not only for SCTD's, but for the track in general. 2010 is going to be a good year. At the first Special Opening day for us goofs, I think the Captain Morgan 100 proof should be busted out.

Posts: 673 (11/09/2009 15:15) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Thermal seems to be the last true bastion of human civilization before the track, along with Coachella, Indio, and where Alex lives in Palm Desert. It looks like a 25 minute drive east of these locations. If you look up "Desert Center" off the 10, that's where the track is roughly located. Haven't been there yet. I want to take pics of the location before it's paved and structures are built. Eventually, we will be able to stay at the track for sure. As long as Alex let's us. Mild update: which isn't too favorable. I was talking with Clif and he said Micky told him the first socal day is early May. Again, I will have to confirm with Micky once again. I know it's torture, but what can you do? One thing is for sure, it looks like a very hot place to ride any time of the year! Ugh! Bootie, plenty of bootie!

On Mapquest, you can find Desert Center really easy, then zoom in as close as you can where you can view buildings. If you proceed north on the 177, about 3 to 4 miles, you will see the Desert Center Airport on the right side (east side). On Mapquest it's actually labeled but not mapped to be found under maps or direction. Whenever this pic was taken, looks like where the tower is located, the surrounding area was graded. Now I can see how this site met very little resistence from the county. Man, nothing is out there. Looks like the small hole in the wall town of Eagle Mountain/Desert Center is a possible place to lodge? I am coincidentally heading to Parker, AZ this weekend for my daughter's football cheer. The boys football team made it to western championships and she cheers for them (she's doing awesome herself, her cheer team are conference champs). Anyways, I will be stopping by the area on the way back on Sat. Gonna take pics for you guys and post here. Bootie, plenty of bootie!
