Yay me, getting (GOT) another bike - 2004 R1 |
Lead | |
|
Just got back from checking the bike out and test riding it. 2004 R1 with 8167 miles on it. Buying it from the original owner who crashed it at Big Willow in
turn 2 (Michelin Power Race tires were on it, pretty much worn out, you know the story on those). All the body work is trashed but I am going to leave it
nekkid anyhow. Gave the guy a deposit and will be picking it up Wednesday night! Bone stock except for Sato rearsets. It has also already had the TPS recall
work done on it that the 04 models are known for having issues with.

As long as I stay away from turn 2 at SOW and turn 3 at Pahrump, I should be good

After some delays, i finally have it. Picked it up last night.
Been working on it already, straightened the forks in the triples, hiding wires and stuff, FZ1 frame sliders installed, converted to reverse shift and a few other things. Figuring out what I need to fix or change. Fun stuff.

Reminds me when I had an apartment only and pleezzzze tell me you didn't use the hammer to straighten out the forks! Wait a minute, you're not factory
rider. You actually have a good idea of what you are doing! Heh heh
Bootie, plenty of bootie!

No worries Javi, the hammer was to get the air box off!

Welp, rode the bike for the first time today (not counting the short test ride when I was buying it). Definitely a different beast from any of the 600s I have
been riding. Going to take a little while to get used to the throttle, it's very touchy. Feels good tho and there are no issues with riding it nekkid. Will
be much better once I get the dirt bars installed and put some real headlights on it.
Got the upper tail piece today so I was able to finish putting that all together. Also got some bar-end mirrors to make it legal. They aren't too bad but I will probably go with something different when I put the dirt bars on.

Time to be a pic whore!
Won't be any changes for a few weeks probably, gotta pay some bills and other shit (track baby!) before I can spend money on the bike again. |
