Saturday, November 1st (Practice Rounds)
I felt really good going back to this track after racing here back in June and running a track day back in the end of Sept. I had some times to beat and improve on. Saturday practice had me around the same times I was running before because I was bedding in new brake pads and brake lines. Also working in a newly installed Power Commander. So minor adjustments to the go fast and stop fast elements of my machine had me switching up a few things in my game. By the time my second practice came around lap two had me 2 seconds faster than my PR at 1:28.9
Sunday November 2nd (Racing)
Race Number 4 C Superstock Novice
This race had me more determined than ever for some reason. I was set out to drop seconds and move up positions. Gridded in the 2nd wave I waited for wave one to go then dug in. Green flag up lead me to a really good start with good position into turn 1. By turn 4 and 5 there was a red flag (restart) out on the course. That did not calm me down much at all. Grid back up, 30 sec board Green flag. Now I don't remember it being all that great, but my teammate in the pits said I jumped into a sky wheelie and held it. All I knew was I was losing positions and time by turn one. Battling for a few laps to get around some racers I know I am faster than but don't have the drive out of the corner that they do. Last time at this track I was begging for the cross sticks (Halfway point) but this time when the half came I was energized and ready for 4 more laps and had 2 more positions in my sights. 1 turn before that lap even finished there was a crash due to contact and caused a red flag, race over. I was so disappointed in my performance in this race. Traffic cause me to run slower than I was able to in practice.
Race Number 10 C Superbike Novice
The time in between these races gave me time to calm down a bit and focus my disappointment in to drive. Gridded in the same position as the last race I zoned out and focused on passing everything in my way. Got a very good start and passed a lot of the racers that gave me trouble last race by turn 2. Got in to a good groove with room to run and felt really good. All my laps where click in in the 1:28's until lap 4 where I ran a 1:27.7 I was having a nice little battle with number 711 Nadine (yes a girl) I would be all over her on the brakes but she could out drive me and pull me on the straights. Looking at my times in this race, and the times from the first race I would have been able to run in the top10 no problem. I was really happy with the results of being able to come back and run 3 second faster.
