Saturday (Practice) Not the best but then again not the worst. Worked on body position and growing some back after my Pahrump doughhead move. Got within a
second of my P.B. (1:27's) but never felt very comfortable. Skipped the last practice to change over from slicks to DOTs for the first race on Sunday.
Sunday (Race 1) Thought I got a pretty good start in A Superstock Novice (started 6th) but ended up finishing 8th. Didn't beat my practice times which was a little disappointing and running on the DOTs after running slicks the day before threw me for a lap or two. That and Having the bike dyno-tuned by Dyno-Jet the day before had some unexpected results (front wheel did not want to stay down at all) which were kinda neat but didn't help with racing. Didn't get passed but didn't pass anyone and it was a very boring ride.
Sunday (Race 2) Last race of the day and it made up for the boredom from the first one. Got an ok start (had to slow alittle cause the bike directly ahead of me bogged and I got boxed in) but still was in good shape going into turn one. That's when it got exciting!!! Someone (don't remember who) tossed their bike across the track and it slid out right in front of me. I had been pushed alittle wide from people dodging it and had nowhere to go. Thanks to MoPowerSports for the HEL lines and Carbone Lorraine pads cause they got me slowed down enough to miss it (still don't know how). Unfortunately, I was now in last place and that just made me very determined to catch back up (which I actually was doing) with the pack. By turn 5 they had red-flagged the race because the cornerworker couldn't tell if it was oil or gas left on the track. Turned out to be a break for me. The restart was much better and I got a really good start passing 3 riders before turn one. I still wasn't running as fast as I wanted but it really felt good. Couldn't believe when the crossed sticks came out and I wasn't tired!!!! Last lap I was looking through 8 so much I could see a couple bikes entering the turn while I was exiting it. No way in hell were they gonna pass me on the last lap so put down the head and kept running my lines and gassing it. Ran my best laps of the weekend but didn't beat my P.B. and didn't gete into the 1:27s like I was hoping to. Actually wanted to go faster but the cajones just weren't there.
Thanks to MoPowerSports, SoCalTrackDays, Ti2TT, LP, Mikes Bikes and Service, Pazzo, Dyno-Jet, Sidi, ACT Leathers and my racing buddy Josh for a great, safe weekend!!!!
